Focus
On most websites, the homepage is almost always reserved for a large photo, video, or slider that may look attractive but rarely gives users the exact information they are looking for.
This approach takes up valuable space on the first screen without helping students quickly find what brought them there: admissions, programs, deadlines, or applications.
At VERN, we consciously moved away from the typical hero layout and designed the top section of the page as an information hub that immediately provides an overview and direction, rather than just a visual impression.
Solution
We developed a modular and scalable university web system that combines UX, editorial flexibility, and data integrations.
All key decisions and information are immediately accessible at a glance, without needing to navigate. This space includes:
- a seasonal slider with the most important links (admissions, exams, announcements…)
- a clear overview of study programs
- current news
- a prominent application button
Programs are further structured through tabs that act as local navigation, and each program automatically pulls in thematically related news and posts, making the portal contextually smart and thematic.
Editors are empowered to manage content easily using synchronized templates and blocks, enabling quick updates.
The portal is connected to VERN’s internal databases via APIs to fetch data on courses and academic structures.
The result is a website that doesn’t function like a brochure but as a living digital system — tailored for students, manageable for editors, and ready for continuous digital evolution.

Project Description
The VERN University web portal was developed as a custom WordPress web application, focusing on speed, scalability, and easy management of large amounts of content. The system was designed as an information portal rather than a classic presentation site, with advanced displays of study programs, news, and seasonal information. APIs are integrated to fetch data from VERN’s internal systems, enabling automation and consistency of academic information across the portal.
